"Artists throughout the centuries have been the chronologists of the environment in which they have lived and worked. Before photography, artists' renderings were the only pictorial recordings of times and events. Though we have progressed to the point where images can be instantly transmitted to millions of people, the artist's interpretation of people and places still remains a classic treasure. "Susan Obrant's paintings of Westchester are classic treasures. I am a third generation resident of the county. I have lived in the county's largest city, in a small village overlooking the Hudson River, in a tiny hamlet in the north, and I have served in local government as well as Westchester County executive. These experiences have given me an intimate knowledge of the beauty of our natural and man-made resources. "When I viewed Ms. Obrant's portfolio of prints depicting Westchester's landscape and landmarks, I knew she had captured masterfully the magnificence of the county, particularly its Hudson Valley region, a region known the world over for its beauty. "With her own unique style, Ms. Obrant has used line and color to convey the energy, vibrance and majesty of Westchester today, as she sees it. Future generations will be fortunate indeed to have the portfolio of prints conveying the sights of late 20th century Westchester. She has chronicled time, for history, with her paintings. Thank you Susan Obrant."
Alfred B. Delbello, former Westchester County Executive, New York State Lieutenant Governor
The talented Susan Obrant has captured the special qualities of Westchester County, both natural and man-made, in this beautiful portfolio of prints. Her landscapes reflect the diversity of the natural beauty of our region. Her pictures of Westchester landmarks represent the height of man's achievement such as with the Croton Reservoir and the scope of our imperfections in the striking view of Sing Sing Prison. We are delighted that a set of this portfolio has been added to the art collection of Pace University School of Law. I am sure you will enjoy these prints as much as I have.
Richard L. Ottinger, Dean, School of Law, Pace University
